KDF is a combination of a high purity granulated copper & zinc alloy which reacts with certain impurities in the water by an electro-chemical process called Redox. During this reaction some harmful contaminants are changed into harmless components. Free chlorine, for instance, is nearly inexhaustibly changed into inactive, water-soluble chloride, which is then absorbed by activated carbon. Similarly, some heavy metals such as aluminum, copper, lead, mercury and others, react and attach onto the KDF media surface, thus being effectively removed from the water supply. The Redox reaction process ionizes the water and gives it extra electrons which act as antioxidants which act to extinguish free-radicals.
KDF BENEFITS
Effective Reduction of:
- Heavy Metals (Lead, Aluminum, Mercury, Copper, Nickel, Chromium, and other Positively Charged Metal Ions)
- Chlorine
- Microorganisms
- Scale Buildup
Additional benefits:
- Extends Life of Carbon Media
- Prevents Bacterial Growth
KDF Media is patented by KDF Fluid Treatment, Inc.
