Product Review (submitted on October 1, 2019):

Have had this unit for 2 years and have enjoyed the results. However, when we moved apartments - we realized that this countertop unit was not conducive to the existing sink in our new apartment. Igor was helpful in trying to find a way to accommodate for conversion, but it required either drilling holes in the sink or dismantling the existing faucet. This work requires a bit more than a novice person can handle, cost too. To get this work done it would be like buying another unit, so we now own a very expensive paperweight until we actually buy a home where we can make such modifications. Because we live in a rental space, making such modifications would cost us our security deposit which just isn’t worth it. Unfortunate that there’s nothing more that can be done, but it was my mistake buying such an expensive unit for a rental home. I regret not having bought a Berkey, in this case. In short, these units are great — Just be careful investing in such an expensive unit for a rental space.

MERCHANT COMMENT:
Thank you for your review Sasha. I totally understand your concerns, which is why we provide in-depth support with various helpful options so you don't have to buy a whole new system:

1. Converting it to an undercounter unit with an inexpensive conversion kit found on our "Parts" page. Yes, you do need a small hole drilled in the sink for this, but many sinks already have a hole for a sprayer hose or a soap dispenser for example, so no drilling would be necessary in that case.

2. If you don't want to or can't drill a hole or convert to undercounter, in most cases, you connect this system to the existing faucet with an adapter. In your case, we contacted the manufacturer of your faucet by phone, spoke with their tech support, found out which tool you need to unscrew the aerator and determined which adapter you will need to connect your filter system without making any permanent alterations, but simply unscrewing the aerator from your faucet and adding the adapter. Perhaps you misunderstood something? In any case, please contact us if you decide to take this approach.

3. Gravity systems like Berkey are great for emergencies where you have to fill water from external source (lake, river, etc.), but for every day convenience, many of our customers have said that gravity systems are not very convenient because they take a long time to filter and have to keep being refilled. Also, the water sits in a reservoir which is more susceptible to mold/bacteria fouling from stagnation, as well as absorbing odors from the air, since it's not hermetically sealed.
